QUAPAW, Okla. — Umicore is holding the grand opening and dedication of its new production plant in Quapaw today.
Marc Grynberg, Umicore’s president and chief executive officer, and Oklahoma’s Commerce Secretary Natalie Shirley, are both planning to be at the event. In 2008 Umicore, which is based in Belgium, selected Quapaw, OK over Phoenix, Ariz., and Albuquerque, N.M., for its U.S. expansion, a $51 million, 40,000-square-foot plant in Quapaw. The company makes germanium wafers, which are used in high-efficiency solar cells.
This new plant is an expansion of the existing Umicore operations in Quapaw.
